Whoa! I rolled one of these out to test and was pleasantly surprised to find some very nice features. The carry sleeve is a lightweight, noisy, thin poly shell with single stitching which probably won't take too much abuse. I'd likely toss it, but the cinch cord is nice with a pinch clamp. Right on top of the compressed mat is a small patch kit with two 2.75" x 3.5" patches and a tube of patching cement. Bonus! The 190T poly patches provided far more confidence in this product than my evil skeptical alter ego (I'm the nice one) anticipated. The mat itself is factory rolled (compressed tighter than I'll probably manage after the test) and and a few things become apparent: This thing is really well built. The straps are attached with 2 stainless rivets to a null flap on the nether end of the mat. The strain is obvious but not alarming - the material does not appear to be overburdened. The straps have a good 5.5-6" of play in them and are attached to what appear to be military quality quick-release nylon buckles. The fill/release valve has a ridged plastic cap over a copper valve set into a hard plastic diamond-shaped anchor, apparently heat welded to the mat shell (as are the seams around the mat). Unfurling the mat is simply a matter of opening the valve and releasing the buckles. The open cell foam starts sucking in air immediately. Experience has taught me that blowing into the valve until the mat is rigidly filled makes for a much more comfortable night and it is relatively easy to do, but not as easy as the Therm-a-Rest mat valve allows. Fully inflated I get 1-5/8" thick mat 70" x 21" inflated sleeping area. I'm a 6'1" 240 pound guy with boney hips, tailbone and shoulder blades. On a hard tile floor none of these pressure points felt solid ground. Overall, I am impressed and pleased with this product, though the carry sleeve could be improved. In fact, using the "Ninja Death Grip & double-knee" rolling technique taught by the Army, I was able to compress the mat, afterwards, below the factory roll dimensions and - surprise, surprise - the mat slipped easily into the carry sleeve. Very nice.
