Solar Energy: Powering Our Future

As part of our commitment to sustainability, Rothco has invested in clean energy solutions for our headquarters. In 2019, we installed one of the largest privately-owned solar energy systems on Long Island. This system generates over 2.1 million kWh of electricity each year, which reduces our carbon footprint by more than 2.9 million pounds of CO2 annually. This initiative is equivalent to powering 302 homes for an entire year or saving over 148,000 gallons of gas each year.

Energy-Saving Lighting: Illuminating the Path to Efficiency

In 2017, Rothco completed a major lighting retrofit at our 205,000+ sq. ft. headquarters, switching out inefficient fluorescent fixtures and incandescent bulbs for energy-efficient LED lighting. This upgrade, which included the installation of 650 occupancy sensors, is projected to save over 371,000 kWh annually. Given that lighting typically accounts for 25-30% of energy usage in commercial buildings, this is a significant step toward reducing our overall energy consumption.

Going Paperless: Reducing Waste, Saving Resources

Rothco’s paperless billing system helps us reduce paper waste and conserve resources. With over 10,000 dealers worldwide, transitioning to paperless invoicing, statements, and communication reduces our carbon footprint and minimizes our environmental impact. Going paperless not only saves trees but also cuts down on water usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy consumption.
